Comprehensive Autism & ADHD Assessments
Understanding Neurodiversity. Looking Beyond Behaviours to Understand the Whole Child.
Our comprehensive autism spectrum disorder and ADHD assessments provide a safe, nurturing, and neuroaffirming space to explore your child's unique profile, empowering families with clarify, understanding, and practical recommendations for next steps.
Comprehensive Autism Assessments
Autism assessments help build an understanding of your child’s communication style, social connection, sensory experiences, and unique way of thinking and interacting with the world. We use the MIGDAS-2 assessment, a neuroaffirming and strengths-based framework designed to understand your child’s individual profile, identify supportive strategies, and provide recommendations that help them feel understood, supported, and able to thrive.
What does this involve?
1. Parent Interview We begin with a detailed interview to learn about your child's development, strengths, interests, daily experiences, and the concerns that have led you to seek an assessment. 2. Teacher/Educator Interview Where appropriate, we gather information from your child's teacher or educator to understand how they communicate, learn, and interact across different environments. 3. Child Diagnostic Session (MIGDAS-2) Your child will attend a diagnostic assessment session using the MIGDAS-2 (Monteiro Interview Guidelines for Diagnosing the Autism Spectrum, Second Edition). This is a neuroaffirming, strengths-based assessment that uses guided conversation and interactive activities to explore your child's communication style, social interaction, sensory experiences, interests, and way of thinking in a relaxed and supportive environment. 4. Standardised Questionnaires Parents, educators, and, where age-appropriate, your child will complete standardised questionnaires to provide a comprehensive understanding of your child's strengths and support needs across settings. 5. Comprehensive Assessment Report All assessment information is carefully integrated into a detailed report outlining the assessment findings, diagnostic outcomes (where appropriate), your child's strengths, and individualised recommendations for home, school, and ongoing supports. 6. Parent Feedback Session We'll meet to discuss the assessment findings, answer your questions, explain any diagnosis (where appropriate), and provide practical recommendations and guidance to help you confidently support your child moving forward. Additional Assessments (where required) For some children, a cognitive assessment and/or ADHD assessment may be recommended to provide a more comprehensive understanding of their learning profile, attention, executive functioning, and overall support needs. This will be discussed with you before proceeding.
Comprehensive ADHD Assessments
ADHD assessments help build a better understanding of how your child learns, focuses, regulates emotions, and manages everyday demands across settings such as home, school, and social environments. Using a strengths-based and neuroaffirming approach, the assessment explores your child’s unique profile, identifies areas where support may be helpful, and provides practical recommendations to help them thrive.
What does this involve?
1. Parent Interview We begin with a comprehensive interview to understand your child's development, strengths, daily functioning, and the concerns that have led you to seek an assessment. Where age-appropriate, your child will also be involved in the discussion. 2. Teacher/Educator Input Information is gathered from your child's teacher or educator to build an understanding of how they learn, focus, and manage everyday tasks across different settings. 3. Observation Session Your child will be observed either in the clinic or, where appropriate and with school agreement, within their school environment. This provides valuable information about their attention, behaviour, regulation, and interaction in everyday situations. *(Travel fees apply for school visits.)* 4. Cognitive Assessment (where appropriate) A cognitive assessment may be recommended to better understand your child's thinking, learning, memory, and problem-solving skills, and to identify any factors that may be contributing to their presentation. 5. Standardised Questionnaires Parents, educators, and, where age-appropriate, your child will complete standardised questionnaires to provide a comprehensive picture of attention, executive functioning, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing across settings. 6. Comprehensive Assessment Report & Feedback Session All assessment information is integrated into a detailed report outlining the assessment findings, diagnostic outcomes (where appropriate), your child's strengths, and practical recommendations. A feedback session is then provided to discuss the results, answer your questions, and explore strategies and supports to help your child thrive.
