Preschool Social, Emotional, Behavioural Developmental Assessments

Supporting Big Feelings, Building Bright Futures

Our preschool developmental assessments help build a deeper understanding of your child's social, emotional, behavioural, and developmental needs during the early years. By identifying their unique strengths and support needs early, we can provide practical strategies and recommendations to help them feel confident, connected, and ready to thrive at home, preschool, and beyond.

Preschool Social, Emotional & Behavioural Assessments

A social, emotional, and behavioural assessment helps to build an understanding of how young children are developing in areas such as emotional regulation, social interaction, behaviour, and early communication. The assessment explores how your child manages emotions, connects with others, and responds in everyday settings, providing practical recommendations and strategies to support their ongoing development and wellbeing.

What does this involve?

1. Parent Initial Clinical Interview We begin with a comprehensive interview to understand your child's developmental history, strengths, daily functioning, and the concerns that have led you to seek an assessment. 2. Educator Input Information is gathered from your child's preschool or early learning educators to gain an understanding of how they interact, play, communicate, and regulate their emotions and behaviour in the early learning environment. 3. Preschool Observation Where appropriate, your child will be observed within their preschool or early learning setting to understand how they engage with peers, educators, routines, and everyday activities. *(Travel fees may apply for preschool visits.)* 4. Standardised Questionnaires Parents and educators will complete standardised questionnaires to provide a comprehensive understanding of your child's social, emotional, behavioural, and developmental functioning across different environments. 5. Comprehensive Report & Feedback Session All assessment findings are integrated into a detailed report outlining your child's developmental profile, strengths, areas of need, and practical recommendations to support them at home, preschool, and in preparation for school. A feedback session is then provided to discuss the findings, answer your questions, and explore the recommended next steps.
